I’ve been getting back into exploring my art in the last year and right around that time I started seeing ads and videos sharing The Color Cube. I’ve been putting off buying them because personally I just didn’t think I would use them, I’ve been trying to talk myself out of purchasing them ever since, because you know I don’t need them I just think they look pretty.
But recently, I decided that maybe now was the time, I felt like they actually might be helpful to me now as I’m exploring my art in all different kinds of ways, from painting and colouring to digital art. Now they feel like something I can see myself using because picking a colour scheme can sometimes be hard at times, and these will certainly give me a lot of options, maybe even too many.
What is a Color Cube?
So, for those who are asking what is a Color Cube? Well, I will tell you. The ‘Color Cube’ was developed by content creator and blogger Sarah Renae Clark and her team. They are based on her successful digital ‘Color Catalogues’ which include pages filled with colour swatch combinations to help give you colour inspiration for your artistic creations. Each colour scheme is also accompanied by an inspirational photo.
You can check them out for yourself via these links: The Color Catalogue | The Color Cube
After the success of her Color Catalogue, her customers and followers expressed interest in a physical version of The Color Catalogue and that is how The Color Cube came to be.
There are two volumes, with the same swatches as in the digital versions. The difference is that they are in card form inside a colourful box instead of in a PDF e-book format.
Each Color Cube comes with 250 swatch cards inside a beautiful box featuring a rainbow gradient in the form of squares covering the box.
The cards feature an inspirational image and colours inspired by the image on one side. The other side features tonal variations of each colour and the hex code in case you want to use it for digital art.
Watch Me Unbox The Color Cube’s
Watch me unbox both of The Colour Cube’s in this YouTube Short I shared recently.
I can’t wait to use these for some future art projects. I can definitely see myself using these for colouring pages and maybe even some paintings.
If you want to know more about The Colour Cube’s or Colour Catalouges check out Sarah Renae Clark’s Website and Youtube Channel. She shares some great tips for colouring and has some great products on her website, so I recommend checking both the links provided.
I hope you enjoyed this short blog post. Until next time I hope you all have a lovely day
Erin.
