Inexpensive Beauty & Makeup Organization + Video| Life Of Dahlia

Hey Beauty & Makeup Lovers, Today I want to share with you some inexpensive makeup storage ideas, I also have my first video where I talk about Inexpensive Beauty & Makeup Organization so go check that out. It’s my first video so I apologise in advance for the awkwardness. I’ll including all the links and some pictures of how I organize my makeup in this post.

As you might know, I did up my Beauty Room this year, one of the things I wanted to do for my makeover was to find some nice ways to store my makeup. I was so surprised to find out how expensive some of the storage options were out there, so I had to get creative, That’s where stores like Kmart & Target are great.

Draw Organizers: For Individual Products

I have a couple of different types of acrylic drawer organizers that I like to use and both are super inexpensive. I recently picked up two cosmetic organizers from The Reject Shop, they were $8 each (pictured above left) and have different sized compartments, I keep one on my vanity to put my project pan and everyday items in and keep the other one in a draw for my face powders, bronzer, blushes etc.

You can purchase this organizer at your local Reject Shop or find similar ones below:

Kmart Australia also has some great draw organizers in their kitchen section, they come in lots of different sizes and are only a few dollars each.

Letter Holders: For Eyeshadow & Face Palettes

My main struggle has been to find a way to display my palettes, I recently found out that Kmart has these great inexpensive letter holders. I saw on Its Mandy Moo’s Instagram where she featured them in one of her Instagram stories and knew this was what I had been looking for so I had to check them out at my local Kmart.

You can pick them up for $4 each and they come in a few different colours, I’ll link them below:

Cups or Jars: For Brushes, Lipsticks and Eyeliners

I love using cup, jars, pots or vases to store my lipsticks, eyeliners, mascaras and makeup brush. They come in lots of different shapes and sizes and you can pick them up from Kmart, Target or your local discount shop (reject shop, cheap as chips etc)

Here are some similar ones:

Inexpensive Beauty & Makeup Organization | Life Of Dahlia

Candy Jars: Lip Balms, Single Eyeshadows & Pigments, etc

I love using candy jars to store my makeup sponges, lip balms, mini lipstick and single eyeshadows or pigments, they look great and it also gives me a place to store them.

I’ve listed a few similar ones below:

Acrylic Draw Sets: For Capsule Collection or Everyday Items

These are similar to what I showed in the video, I’ve had mine for a long time so they don’t stock the ones I have anymore but Target.com.au have the ones pictured above that are quite similar, the drawer set is pretty much identical. These are great if you have a capsule collection or are an average makeup user, meaning you only use your most loved items and don’t have more than you need.

I’ll include links to the above items:

Thank you for checking out my post & video, I hope that this has been helpful and given you some ideas on what you can use to display and organize your makeup collection. If you have any questions feel free to leave them below and I will try my best to answer them.

If you have a quick minute before you go, check out my YouTube Channel and subscribe, hopefully, I’ll be posting some more content there pretty soon.

Until next time,

Halloween Edition - Cruelty-Free Special Effects Makeup Brands | Life Of Dahlia

Halloween – Cruelty-Free Special Effects Makeup Brands | Life Of Dahlia

Hey Everyone, Its October Yay, I’m super excited not only does that mean its acceptable to wear dark and spooky attire it’s also my birthday month. I’ll be turning 31 this year kinda scary, the last year had gone so fast. I just wanted to note it actually spring here in Australia but that doesn’t matter I’ll for sure be rocking my skeleton leggings and pieces from the recent Blackmilk ‘Immortal Beauty’ collection which I’ll be posting about soon.

With Halloween being only a couple of weeks away, I thought that I would share with you a list of Cruelty-Free Special Effects Makeup Brands. I’ve been using Tag body art paints, unfortunately, these aren’t CF but I did not know that at the time of purchase I’ve had them for a while, however, some of the brands I have listed below should have some great CF alternatives.

Cruelty-Free Special Effects Makeup Brands

All the brands listed below are cruelty-free, it is either stated on their website or they have a cruelty-free certification but I also recommend doing your own research for your own benefits & beliefs. These brands may not be 100% vegan, I’ll include information on certifications and whether they are also 100% Vegan if I can find that information.

* Glitter Girl’s glitter is a bio glitter (“Our Glitter products are made from plant-based film (cellulose). The material is derived from the fibres of eucalyptus trees, one of the most widely available and fastest growing trees on the planet.” – from the Glitter Girl Website) Which means that it’s also friendly for the planet.

Cruelty-Free Beauty Brands

Some of these beauty brands are great for creating spooky makeup looks, Manic Panic and Lunatick Labs specialise in alternative and spooky themed makeup products.

Australian Special Effects Stockists

(that stock some CF SFX brands.)

These are some Australian Stockist that stock cruelty-free brands including some of the ones above.

I hope that this post has been helpful for you. Since choosing to go cruelty-free I’m definitely learning a lot and I’m trying my best to stay on top of researching brands to check their cruelty-free status. I do find that its all up to personal opinion on what you are okay with purchasing. When brands have a certification from Peta, Leaping Bunny or Choose Cruelty-free it makes it a lot easier to know that they are doing the right things.

For whatever reason, not all brands have done that, so I also like to check out what other cruelty-free bloggers or influencers are using when I’m deciding, especially when a brand that doesn’t have a certification. But It’s all personal preference.

I hope this post will be a good resource for those wanting to get some cruelty-free makeup for Halloween or just to do special effects makeup.

I hope to see you in my next Halloween post,

sig

Seasonal Project Pan 3 Introduction | Life Of Dahlia

Hey Beauty Lovers, welcome to my seasonal project pan 3 introduction. If you didn’t see my conclusion of my previous project pan you can check that out here. I also let you know what items I’m carrying on over from my previous project pan, in this post I’ll just be focusing on new items that are going into my spring/summer project pan.

Unlike my last project pan which I decided to do for only 2 months this project pan will be for 3 months, I think that will give me more time to finish things or make good progress on.

Whats going into my Spring/Summer Project Pan

Makeup Products

Seasonal_project_pan_new_lifeofdahlia

I picked a bunch of products to go into this project pan from my makeup stash, some of these I want to use up and others I just want to give some love.

Makeup Mini’s

I have collected quite a few mini lipsticks and liquid lipsticks over the last couple of years, I wanted to try and use up some lip products this time so I decided to pick a few mini’s to work on. These may not be at all spring or summer colours but I still wanted to give it a go I think I can work with them. Three of these are over a year old so I wanted to try and use them up.

I’ll be working on a Kat Von D lipstick in Cathedral (I want to use up some of my products from her brand), a Toofaced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Chihuahua, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Perla (this may not work well with summer so I’m still undecided, it may end up back in next year though) and a Marc Jacobs mini in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

I’m not putting huge pressure on myself with these the colours may not work at all so I’ll just see how I go.

Lipgloss

I had this gloss in my project pan and I didn’t give it much love but I do love it and its quite old so I wanted to try my best to use some of it up before deciding to move it on.

Nutrimetics Brown Mascara

I am continuing over my Toofaced mini mascara but I also wanted to use up my Nutrimetics brown mascara it’s getting older and needs to be used up before it goes off. Apologies some of my photos turned out a little dark so it’s hard to see it in the picture it kind of blends in.

I like to use this on more natural days it just coats my lashes to define them but it’s not volumizing or anything like that so that’s why I prefer it on more natural makeup days. I may try to use this even on no makeup days as well.

Chi Chi Cosmetics Translucent Loose Powder

This is one of my favourite face powders, I have almost used this up but there is still a good amount in there, I wanted to focus on using this up so that I can try some newer things in my collection.

Australis Bye-Bye Blemish Concealer

If you have seen some of my other projects pans you may have seen that I was trying to use some backups of these up, I ended up with quite a few. This is my third and I think I have one more in my collection, I really like this concealer actually it’s a setting concealer so its easy to put under the eyes and its somewhat peachy tone helps block out my under eye darkness.

I would love to branch out and try some new concealers so I want to get these finished so that I can do that.

Seasonal_project_pan_tfsweetface_lifeofdahlia

Toofaced Sweet Peach Face Palette

Now, this is one of those products I just want to show some love, I purchased this palette early last year along with the eyeshadow palette and I thought this would be great for the warmer months, I also hadn’t played with it for a while so I wanted to put it in to show it some love. I really like the fact that I have a bronzer, blush and highlight in here so I don’t need multiple products to do my face.

In saying that though I will be also continuing on with my BYS cream contour palette as well but I think these will work nicely together.

Seasonal_project_pan_newtofinish_lifeofdahlia

DB Cosmetics Matte Velvet Foundation

I’m almost finished with my foundation from my previous project pan so I thought that I would put a new one in, I don’t like having heaps of foundations at one time because I know that they will probably just go off which I don’t want. I currently have three in my collection including this one, the DB hydrating foundation and a Chi Chi cc cream and I’m happy with that ratio. I would be happy with maybe one more but I wouldn’t want any more than that.

A matte foundation will be great for the warmer months as well which is why I decided on this one. I can’t wait to get started on this one.

Modelsprefer Makeup Setting Spray

I’ve had these a while and I want to use them up, I have almost finished on I’ve been using and them I’ll be focusing on these. One of these is almost finished and the other one if full, I used to use these all the time and I think they are a nice finishing and setting spray so I’m happy to get back into using these.

Seasonal_project_pan_hair&body_lifeofdahlia

Hair & Body Project Pan

I did a project pan earlier this year which I completely forgot to update on but I decided to add some new products in for this project pan to work on using up. I’m so lazy with my hair so I hardly ever use dry shampoo and heat protectants because I never straighten or curl my hair.

I’m trying my best to use up all my non-cf products so that I can support brands that are, some of these products aren’t cruelty-free but a couple are.

Batiste (not CF)

Somehow I ended up with three dry shampoos, I have given two away that were still full but I thought I would use this one because there isn’t much left in it.

Cedel Hair Spray

Turns out Cedel are cruelty-free or so it appears from a quick check, I don’t often use hairsprays but having on is always handy because you never know when you might need one. I’ve had this one for a long while probably got it in a subscription box back in the day, It doesn’t have much left so I want to try and use it up before the end of the year.

OGX Hair Oil (not CF)

I have had this for a while, I like hair oils to help add some oil back into my hair when it feels dry, I want to finish this one up to get it out of my collection and purchase a cruelty-free hair oil.

John Frieda Frizz Ease (not CF)

Another product that I’ve had for way too long, this is a heat protectant and anti-frizz product. I just want to use as much up as possible before getting rid of it.

Nutrimetics Sun Days

This is an after sun body moisturizer, I’ve had this for a while and it needs to be used up, this will come in handy for the warmer weather. I always try to protect my skin as best as possible in summer but there are those odd days I forget. I will just use this as a night time body moisturizer because I’m still working on a couple of other body lotions.

Solace Mineral Spa (unsure of CF status)

This was something that I was given in a gift set a long time ago, It’s been sitting in my cupboard for a long time, I thought this will be good to use up in this project pan because I’ll be going with more open toed shoes so I have to keep those feet in good condition lol.

I’m definitely learning a lot from doing project pans, I no longer have the desire to have lots of backups, I’m happy to go purchase new products when I’m close to finishing something up rather than having a back up of something.

I have so many things that I need to finish up still like primers, I have way too many for one person’s use, I still have at least three in my draw that I need to use up.

It will be great once I’ve used some of these things up because I can them try new things which is exciting.

Shopping My Makeup Collection – Palette Of The Month – Toofaced Cosmetics Chocolate Bon Bon’s Eyeshadow Palette + 4 Looks| Life Of Dahlia

Hey beauty lovers, I can’t believe its almost the end of the month already, September has gone so fast, I’m already starting to think about October’s posts. But, today I’m here to chat with you about my ‘Palette of the Month’ for September, which was the Toofaced Cosmetics ‘Chocolate Bon Bons’ eyeshadow palette.

I’ve had this palette for a couple of years now, so It may not be in its best quality because of its age, I just wanted to note this before going on with my review. If you’re a Toofaced Cosmetics fan you will probably know that the chocolate bar palettes are some of their best and most loved products. The Bon Bons palette is cooler toned than the Original Chocolate Bar palette which I feel is more neutral.

What’s included in the ‘Chocolate Bon Bons’ palette.

This palette includes three possible matte transition shades which is great, my personal favourite is ‘Almond Truffle’, but there is also ‘Mocha‘ which is a muted medium brown and also a cool toned taupe called ‘Pecan Praline‘. From appearance, it looks like this has three deeping shades ‘Bordeaux’ which is a red-brown matte, ‘Malted’ which is a chocolate brown matte with glitter (but it doesn’t really show up when you are applying it) & ‘Dark Truffle‘ which is actually a satin but you could use this to deepen thing up if you wish.

There are five shimmer shades in this palette ‘Satin Sheets’ which is a pink with champagne/golden shift but looks more champagne in the pan, ‘Cotton Candy‘ which is a light pink with a sliver frost, ‘Cafe’ Au Lait‘ which is a taupe brown with a metallic finish & also one of my favourites,‘Sprinkles’ which is a peachy-pink with a gold reflect, and ‘Molasses Chip’ which is coppery bronze.

There are also what I would call pops of colour in this palette, ‘Totally Fetch’ which is a bright fuchsia pink with shimmer, ‘Earl Grey’ which is a blackened teal with a satin shimmer and ‘Black Currant’ which is Deep Plum shade with a frost finish.

This palette also includes a massive pan of a cream matte shade called ‘Divinity’ and ‘Cashew Chew’ which is described as a muted light peachy pink with a satin shimmer though I would have to disagree with that to me I can’t see any shimmer in it and I would say it looked more like a muted light warm taupe shade, but that’s just my opinion.

For more detailed descriptions check out Temptalia’s review, she goes into a lot of detail about shade descriptions and dupes for shades.

What are my thoughts on the ‘Chocolate Bon Bons’ Eyeshadow Palette?

Okay so now its time to get down to the nitty-gritty of how I feel about this palette, I’m just jumping right in. I think this palette has some great things going for it but it definitely has its flaws and I’ll get into that in a second.

When I first started playing with this palette for this review I was thinking about what made me buy this and I honestly think its the pops of pink which is super interesting because back then I never wore pink eyeshadow, like ever so it’s interesting that that’s what drew me in. I also think the cocoa smell had a lot to do with it as well I’m not going to lie its huge factor of why I purchase these palettes that smell every time I open the palette is amazing.

I think this palette has a great variety of shades to work with but I do think there are a some redundant shades in here, for example I think I used ‘Cashew Chew’ once, Its really light and very sheer other than using all over the lid before applying other shadows on top I don’t know why its in the palette. I guess it could also be used as a brow highlight or on the inner corner but I honestly feel like they could have added something different in there instead because it just doesn’t really show up very well, I tried to build it up but it left much to be desired.

Look 1:  Divinity (base to set eyeshadow primer), Almond Truffle(transition), Mocha(crease & to blend out lower lash line), Malted (deepen up outer corner, crease & lower lash line), Cafe’ Au Lait (inner part of my lid, inner corner, brow bone highlight)

Things I love about this palette

I love that they have included a huge pan of a base shade (Divinity) But that would only work for someone with a lighter skin tone, I do think that having a huge pan of this type of matte shade is great though because I’m sure like me, most people with lighter skin tones would get a lot of use out of an eyeshadow like this.

While ‘Satin Sheets’ is a gorgeous shade I would have loved if they had added two eyeshadows in this space instead of one huge pan, that would have been great, but the large pan does have a great purpose too because this shade makes a beautiful face highlight as well so smaller pans would make this harder so its not all bad.

Look 2: Divinity (base to set eyeshadow primer), Almond Truffle (transition), Black Currant (outer corner, in the crease & lower lash line), Totally Fetch (outer part of the lid and blended into blackcurrant), Cotton Candy (inner portion of the lid & blended into  Totally Fetch) and Sprinkles (inner corner.)

‘Cafe’ Au Lait‘ has to be one of my favourite shades in this palette, it’s a taupe brown metallic which I honestly wouldn’t have thought when I purchased this that a colour like this would end up being my most loved shade in this palette.

My next most loved shimmer or metallic shade in this palette would have to be ‘Molasses Chip’ which is a gorgeous coppery bronze bordering on vintage gold/bronze kind of shade, its just stunning and I think would look beautiful on anyone.

‘Almond Truffle‘ is probably my favourite transition shade, but ‘Mocha’ & ‘Pecan Praline‘ are fantastic as well. I love pairing ‘Mocha’ with ‘Bordeaux’ to deepen it just is a great combo especially if I say put ‘Molasses Chip’ on my lid.

look 3: Divinity (base to set eyeshadow primer), Mocha (transition), Bordeaux (crease to deepen), Malted (crease & outer corner to deepen even more), Dark Truffle (deepen the outer corner more & lower lash line), Molasses Chip (center to inner part of the lid) & Satin Sheets (inner corner & brow bone highlight.)

Shades I wanted to love

I know I only mentioned a few of the eyeshadows in the previous section and that’s not to say I didn’t love the other shades it’s more than some I wanted to love and some that I’m more impartial about.

Interestingly enough those pops of pinks I mentioned earlier that I came to the conclusion that they were what drew me to this palette are not my faves, I could work with them but ‘Totally Fetch‘ has always given me trouble, its a very dry formula for something that’s supposed to be a shimmer, It takes a lot to build up and just looks average overall. I tried my best to work with this shade I scraped the top layer of to see if I could get a better pay off (because like I said my palette is a bit older), but that didn’t really help much, I was expecting this to look much brighter than it did.

‘Cotton Candy’ is a nice shade and looks nice with ‘Totally Fetch’ or another pink toned eyeshadow, but I just don’t reach for it, I want to love it but I just don’t know if it doesn’t look good on me or what. I think I prefer ‘Sprinkles’ to ‘Cotton Candy‘ which has a beautiful shift to it and looks great on the inner corner or on the lid.

look 4: Divinity (base to set eyeshadow primer), Earl Grey (all over the lid & lower lash line), Pecan Praline (transition and to blend out Earl Grey) & Cafe Au Lait (inner corner and brow bone highlight.)

Black Currant’ I used this shade a couple of times when I did a look with ‘Cotton Candy’ &‘Totally Fetch’ in the outer corner and lower lash line, this was another shade that I think is just okay, its also very dry like ‘Totally Fetch’, I tried it once all over the lid but I just didn’t love the way it looked.

‘Earl Grey’ I used a few times as an all over lid colour and blended it out with ‘Pecan Praline’ which didn’t look too bad but it doesn’t look as teal on the lid as in the pan, it more looks like a charcoal or deep grey-black colour. It’s also a really dry formula as well, so I found that this and ‘Black Currant’ had a bit of fall out on my face.

Final Thoughts

I think this palette has some great shades, there are quite a few gems in here but there are also some shades that I think could have been much nicer, mainly the ones I just mentioned. I wish that that ‘Totally Fetch’, ‘Earl Grey’ and  ‘Black Currant’ had a less dry formula it makes them hard to work with.

I also think they could have done without ‘Cashew Chew’ and put something else in there, I also think they probably didn’t need to have both ‘Cotton Candy‘ & ‘Sprinkles‘ while the finish is somewhat different they still look really similar. I wish ‘Dark Truffle‘ was a matte finish because I feel like this desperately needs a really deep brown, ‘Malted‘ just isn’t deep enough for me personally.

Saying all that I would recommend this palette because I think it has some gems in there and for me there really only a few eyeshadow shades that I think are average. I think this has some great wearable cool tones and overall most of the eyeshadows are really nice and easy to work with.

Have you tried the Toofaced Cosmetics ‘Chocolate Bon Bons’ palette? What are your thoughts? Did you love it or hate it? let me know in the comments.

October ‘Palette of the Month’ is…

The Morphe ’39a Dare To Create Artistry’ eyeshadow palette.

Shopping My Makeup Collection - Palette Of The Month - October Morphe 39 A Dare To Create Artistry Palette | Life Of Dahlia

Next month I decided to actually go with something new to my collection, the Morphe Brushes ’39a Dare To Create Artistry’ eyeshadow palette. At the end of June or was it July I can’t remember which but I do remember saying at that time I was happy with my collection, that was at the time, but in the last couple of months I’ve seen quite a few things that have really inspired me so I decided to pick some up, including this beauty.

I originally saw this used by Atleeeey she is one of my favourite creators to watch on youtube especially for tutorials her creativity when it comes to makeup is amazing, if you’re looking for makeup look inspiration I would go check her out (she’s not a cf creator so keep that in mind & if you see her use something, do your own research on its status).

Now for those that don’t know Morphe states on their website that they are cruelty-free & it is also confirmed by Cruelty-free Kitty which is one of a few places I go to check out information on brands cruelty-free status. Morphe do not have a cruelty-free certification (PETA, leaping bunny, etc) at this time and their brand isn’t entirely vegan, They probably use carmine in some of their eyeshadows and they do have animal hair brushes (as well as synthetic brushes) so its up to you whether you want to purchase from them.

I do have some thoughts on their brushes I may decide to do a post on a brush set I picked up in the near future, I haven’t decided yet.

I’m really excited to use this palette for the next month some of those shades are really calling to me. Its actually spring here in Australia, I wouldn’t say this is a spring palette at all it’s more jewel tones to me which are an autumn-winter thing right but I’m dying to play with it. I was actually thinking about using the Toofaced ‘Lifes A Festival’ palette but I decided not to do two Toofaced reviews in a row, but you bet I’ll be bringing that and the ‘Sweet Peach‘ out sometime in the next few months, they will look amazing for summer vibes. Not that I really care about pairing colours with seasons I just do whatever I want but you know we will just go with that.

So keep an eye out on my Instagram & Facebook over the next month I will for sure be featuring some looks using this beautiful eyeshadow palette.

If you got this far congratulation and thank you for reading my post I hope you enjoyed my review and I can’t wait to see you in my next post.

Products Empties – What I’ve Used Up| Life Of Dahlia

Hey everyone, today I’m sharing with you some products I’ve used up and what I thought about them, will I be picking up another one or passing to try something else.

Product’s I’ve used up

Products Empties - What I've Used Up | Life Of Dahlia

Skincare

I’ve used up quite a few skincare items recently, including two moisturizers, a face cleanser, serum, facial scrub and micellar water. It’s really nice to look back and see how much I’ve used up, this year my aim was to finish up a lot of backups and I’m starting to see the kind of progress that I hoped for.

Nutrimetics – Honey & Almond Scrub

I’ve been through a few of these over the years, I really enjoy this product, it’s my mum’s favourite as well. It’s a great product that I’ve enjoyed time and time again, it contains Apricot Extract, Peppermint oil, Almonds and Oatmeal, it gives a gentle exfoliation while making the skin feel hydrated and refreshed. I will probably pick another one up at some stage but I’m wanting to branch out and try new things.

Essano – Rosehip Gentle Facial Cleansing Micellar Water

This is my go-to Micellar Water, I’ve used up many of these and I will keep purchasing more, its a fantastic product. It removes makeup well and the rosehip helps with healing and hydrating the skin. I will definitely be repurchasing as its a staple in my skincare routine and if you have been following me for a while you will know that Essano is one of my go-to skincare brands.

Sukin – Sensitive Facial Moisturiser

Another brand that I love is Sukin Organics, I’ve tried quite a few of their products including this facial moisturiser from Sukin’s sensitive range. I quite enjoyed this it’s a great daily moisturiser that helps keep my skin moisturised and hydrated. I’m wanting to try some new products but I’m sure I will pick up one of Sukin’s moisturisers at some point in the future. I’m currently trying to finish up one of their other moisturisers so I’m sure you will see that in an empties later in the year.

Biore – Free Your Pores! Baking Soda Pore Cleanser

I think I had this from a Priceline bag, Biore is not a cruelty-free which I’ve since found out so I won’t be purchasing any of their products in the future unless they decide to go cruelty-free. I try to use as many products as I can that are cruelty-free but I also don’t like to be wasteful, I usually go into bags like the Priceline one with my mum or sisters this was just a product left over that no one wanted so I wasn’t going to waste it, because it would just end up in landfill somewhere, I would rather finish it and just not repurchase.

The Ordinary – “Buffet” Serum

I think I talked about this product in my current skincare routine post, I enjoyed this product it was quite good and The Ordinary is a Cruelty-free brand, with some great skincare for affordable prices. I’m not sure if I will re-purchase or purchase anything more from them, I want to try out other brands and products, so we will just have to see.

Nutrimetics – Comfort Calming Day Cream

Again I think I also talked about this in my current skincare routine post, I was using this as more of a night cream because it was quite hydrating and I found that it took a while to sink in. I did enjoy this and Nutrimetics is a long time favourite brand of mine I enjoy trying out their skincare and body products more so than their makeup.

I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase this particular product, I did like it maybe if this comes on sale again in the future I might consider re-purchasing.

Products Empties - What I've Used Up | Life Of Dahlia

Body & Hair

Essano – Rosehip Oil Repairing Body Wash

Like I said Essano is one of my favourite brands, I really enjoy a lot of their products including their body washes, they last me months. I love this one, in particular, the scent is beautiful and I’m a big fan of their Rosehip products. I will definitely be repurchasing in the future, these retail for $10 and last four or five months if not more for me so I will absolutely keep repurchasing.

Camille & Mae – Dream Cream Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream in Juicy Peach

I received this in a set at Christmas time, I’m currently trying to use a whole bunch of them up. I loved this Juicy Peach scent it was beautiful and not overpowering, I find some scented hand creams can often have very strong scents. I really liked this and I can’t wait to try others from this brand, the packaging says they are cruelty-free but I couldn’t find much information on the brand, I think they are a Priceline Australia brand and as far as I know, Priceline in-house brands are but I’ve sent an email to see if they can confirm this.

Essano – Argan Oil Of Morocco Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner

This was from my Samples Project Pan, I used up these Shampoo & Conditioner mini’s from Essano, it’s from their Argan Oil range. I have purchased full-sizes of these in the past and really enjoyed them, I love Essano’s hair care range and would definitely consider purchasing these in the full-size in the future.

I did think these minis were technically a single use for me and they might be for other people as well, I use a lot of shampoo and conditioner but I think it’s a great way to try them out.

Coles – Makeup Removal Pads & Kirkland – Daily Facial Towelettes

I used up two packets of the Coles Makeup Removal Pads & the last of my Kirkland face wipes. I’m not sure if I will be picking these up again. I’ve recently picked up some organic cotton makeup removal pads from The Body Shop I’ll probably keep purchasing these and looking into other products in the future.

I used to purchase Simple wipes I thought they were cruelty-free but have since found out that may not be the case which is unfortunate. I have found out that Kirkland’s personal care products are considered cruelty-free so If you do like their wipes and were wondering cruelty-free kitty says they are. This may change my mind about purchasing them in the future nothing is set in stone yet.

I did have an aim to not purchase wipes at the start of the year but I do find them handy to have sometimes. Its okay to change your mind, where I live we are lucky enough to have some great recycling programs that make it easier to recycle soft plastics. I would like to look into some alternative products in the future so that I can stop purchasing things like this but I think I just need to sit down properly and do some more research.

It might take me a while to get an alternative product that I’m happy with.

Makeup (Project Pan & Declutter)

These items are mostly projected pan items, stuff I’ve used up and some that I am decluttering for reasons I’ll discuss below.

Bert’s Bee’s Lipstick

This is being decluttered because it’s expired, I haven’t had it for hugely long but its changed in the formula so I’m just getting rid of it just in case, It’s not my favourite colour so I’m okay with that. Unfortunately, this does happen sometimes and while I do talk about hating waste I also except that I’m not a minimalist so I know that this will occasionally happen.

I’ve also recently learned the Bert’s Bee’s may not be considered cruelty-free for too much longer as they have started selling in China, I hope they rectify this because it would be sad to see this brand give in to that markets testing policy’s for the sake of some extra money.

Savvy By DB –  Smooth Finish Primer

This has been a long time favourite of mine, I think like a lot of people I actually thought this brand was owned by DB Cosmetics who are a Cruelty-Free brand, I’ve since learnt that may not be the case. I think Savvy By DB is actually another of Priceline Australia’s in-house brands, I’ve contacted them to check on this brand’s cruelty-free status along with Camille & Mae. Hopefully, I hear back soon and can update on the status of these brands.

I do have a couple more of these to finish up but I’m not sure if I will repurchase in the future I want to look into other brands and maybe try some new primers. It also depends on their Cruelty-Free Status.

NYX Professional Makeup – Photo-Loving Primer

I love NYX products usually I’ve only ever had a few that I didn’t really like and unfortunately this was one of them. I added this into my project pan I’ve tried it a couple of times and I just really didn’t like it, I didn’t like how it felt on my skin and I couldn’t get my foundation to look nice on top. I would have loved to finish this up but unfortunately, it just doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

NYX Professional Makeup – Matte Liquid Liner

I used this up within a few days of my new project pan, I’ve been doing them seasonally since the middle of the year and this was a rollover product. I didn’t love or not love this product, I don’t know If I would repurchase, I think I want to try something new so probably not.

I didn’t think it was a bad product, I actually really enjoyed using it I think its one of the better ones I’ve tried in this format from the brand. I’ve only tried a small portion though so don’t quote me on that but I do think It’s not bad for an affordable liquid liner.

Physicians Formula – Organic Wear Mascara

This was going to go into my new project pan, I tried it a couple of times and it just made my eyes water so I’m decluttering it and I most likely won’t repurchase this.

Thank you for reading my post I hope you enjoyed seeing what products I used up, I’m sorry I rambled a bit in this one I apologise for that.

I’m currently going through a period where I’m wanting to make some more changes in my life or lifestyle. I’m certainly not a minimalist and I know that so I’m trying to make small changes where I can by being more mindful about what I’m buying and using, you may have seen my shopping addiction post earlier this month where I talked about my own story.

As a blogger and beauty/ makeup lover, I’m definitely enticed by new products, and for my blog I know I want to review things because that’s what I love doing but I’m trying to be more mindful about what I’m purchasing so that I don’t get overloaded with things again. I’m also trying to use more of what I have instead of purchasing things all the time like I really should stop buying lipsticks and using what I already have.

This is very much a psychological thing for me Its something I know that I want to work on and I know it’s not going to happen overnight. I’ve been feeling like I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself when I do purchase something, I’m trying to learn to be kinder to myself I’m not perfect and this is my personal journey it’s going to take time to make changes and its okay If I don’t get there straight away and make mistakes.

Thank you again for getting this far, I hope you enjoyed my post and I hope to see you in the next one.
