June/ July Recap + Seasonal Project Pan Update & Liptember | Life Of Dahlia

June/ July Recap + Seasonal Project Pan Update | Life Of Dahlia

Hey Guys, I wanted to check in and do a June/July recap as well as talk about how my seasonal project pan went for the last few months.

The last few months have been all over the place I’ve been going through a lot of mental health stuff. Its been hard to deal with, I’ve been feeling not like myself at all which is really unusual for me because even though I’ve struggled with my mental health for a long time I have never not felt like myself. I’ve always lacked confidence which always drives me crazy because I am also quite ambitious and have big dreams, But I have never felt like this before.

I’ve been feeling a lot of guilt which I know I’ve been putting on myself, over lots of silly insignificant things which I think has contributed to me feeling this way. I’ve been struggling to find the energy write, and I’ve even struggled to want to put makeup on and when I have managed to I just wanted to take it off again.

Project Pan Update

This has affected how much progress I’ve made with my project pan, I wanted to use it but I honestly haven’t touched some things that have been in my project pan for a while so I have taken that opportunity to throw away some of the older things I just wasn’t touching.

I’m also horrible at marking my progress as well, which is why I stopped doing updates because I just couldn’t be bothered trying to catch up. I have been enjoying using some of the products in my project pan and I feel like a Seasonal or Rolling Project Pan is better for me.

For the most part, I just want to get use out of what I own instead of focusing on using thing up, I think this is where I get bored. But saying that I have no problem trying to use up basic products, like foundations, concealers or primers. I will be continuing a few items over into my next Project Pan which I will be posting about on Friday.

June/ July Recap + Seasonal Project Pan Update & Liptember | Life Of Dahlia

Products I did see a bit of progress on are my ‘bronzer’ that I was working on in my Chi Chi Cosmetics Contour Extravaganza palette, there is a significant dip showing, it looked practically untouched when I started.

As for the rest, I’m just going to give you a brief list below of my project pan items and whether I’m still using them or they have moved on.

This month is about just being kinder to myself as I’m still feeling pretty down, but I’m excited to let you all know about something I’m doing next month. I’ve teamed up with a few friends to do Liptember this year. I’ll be doing a post in a couple of weeks that goes more in-depth about Liptember and Why I wanted to do it this year.

But basically, Liptember is an Australian Organization that raises money and awareness for Women’s Mental Health. They run a campaign during the month of September to help raise the money, If your an Aussie and would like to participate go check out their website at liptember.com.au. They are currently in the middle of updating the website for 2018’s campaign but there is quite a bit of information about what they do and where the donated money goes.

If you want to follow our team, Check out our Facebook Page – Rainbow Pouts, or Instagram page We will be posting during September and have a donation page for people to donate directly through the Liptember site.

Like I mentioned before I will be doing some dedicate Liptember post very soon.

Favourite Makeup Base Products | Life Of Dahlia

Hey everyone, let’s get into it, today I’m going to be sharing with you my current favourite base products. Let me know in the comments what are your current favourite or holy grail base products.

I’ve included some from my favourite Aussie brands, which I naturally gravitate towards because I can grab them locally. Some of these are products that I use every day and others I use occasionally but really enjoy I’ll talk about this further on.

Foundations, concealers, powders

I’m not one of those people who can wear foundation all the time I will often feel like my skin is suffocating, but when I do I’ve been really enjoying the ‘Matte Velvet‘ and ‘Luminous Hydrating’ foundations by DB Cosmetics. The shade range is ok but I still have to lighten it because I’m quite fair so this is when I will use my trusty Australis ‘Match Maker Lightening Drops‘come in, I couldn’t live without them.

My current go-to concealer is the Australis ‘Bye Bye Blemish’ It can be a bit dark by I love using this under my eye because it has a slight peachy tone so it helps cover up my dark circles and its a setting concealer so I don’t have to worry about it going anywhere.

My go-to powder for setting my base is the Chi Chi Cosmetics ‘Real Minerals’ Translucent setting powder, I love this for when I’m not looking for extra coverage. I may have to look at the rest of this range once I’ve finished up some face powders in my current makeup project pan, they also have a range of shades as well as this one so we will see.

Face Primers

Savvy By DB’s ‘Smooth Finish Primer’ has been a staple in my routine for quite a few years, I really enjoy it for smoothing out my pores. I have also been enjoying the DB Cosmetics ‘Rise & Prime Luminescent Primer’ it gives a nice dewy glow, I actually really love mixing a little bit in with the ‘Luminous Hydrating’ foundation if I want a more sheer coverage.

I’m currently panning this Nutrimetics eyeshadow primer, it’s not bad actually it don’t mind it, it does help my eyeshadow last all day, who knows I may repurchase once I have finished up my bunch of other eyeshadow primers.

What are your go-to base products? let me know in the comments.

I hope you all have a great day and thanks for stopping by, don’t forget to follow me to get updated on whenever I have a new post go live. You can find a bunch of options in the sidebar.

I’m hoping to set up a new email system soon, I’m currently learning how it all works so I’ll keep you updated with a post, on here and via my social media accounts.

until then,

Hey Everyone, I wanted to share a fun post with you all, I’m a very visual person so I enjoy watching things to relax or learn something new. Today I’m going to share with you a list with some of my current favourite YouTube Channels that I’m enjoying watching.

When I’m feeling the effects of my illnesses I tend to want to relax, chilling out and watching something, lately that has been youtube. I’ve been discovering some new channel’s, as well as rediscovering old channels that I followed a long time ago and loving some that I’ve been following for a while now.

My Current Favourite Youtube Channels

Below are some of my current favourites, I love finding people who post unique content especially when it comes to beauty channels, I love people that have their own unique style or qualities.

  • Elle S (shadowsmoked88) – I’ve been following Elle for a while now, you may have seen me to posts inspired by some of her videos. She has a very unique style and I love that she embraces her love for Fleetwood Mac.
  • Georgia Harris – Georgia is another person I enjoy watching she does some really inspiring videos like creating her own collections or palettes inspired by the fandoms she loves. You should check out her Star Wars and Beauty & The Beast inspired videos.
  • Safiya Nygaard – This is a channel I recently rediscovered, I used to follow Safiya a long time ago and I recently rediscovered her channel I think she has some really unique content, her recent videos in Japan are a really interesting watch.
  • Makeup Struggles – I discovered Makeup Struggles through Georgia Harris or Elle S, I remember seeing one of them mention her channel so I checked it out. She does some really unique videos like re-designing palettes by well-known brands, these are a definite must watch.
  • Samantha Ravndahl– I’ve seen Samantha’s makeup looks floating around the internet but I only just discovered her channel, through Raw Beauty Kristy, They did a couple of collab videos and so I decided to check out her channel. I’ve really been enjoying her videos.

Unusual Products That I love | Life Of Dahlia

This is a sneaky little bonus post that was is inspired by a video that I saw on Youtube by Elle S or ShadowSmoked88, She posted a video all about unusual makeup products that she loves. I was inspired to share Unusual Products that I love but I believe the original creator was LivLovesHerMakeup.

It’s no secret that I love colourful makeup, I may not always share it on my blog or social media but it makes up a majority of my collection, I obviously couldn’t share everything so I just picked a small capsule collection from my full collection.

NYX Cosmetics – Color Mascara & Vivid Brights Liquid Liner

I love Nyx Professional products, they are such a creative brand and they have some fun products that I love. These are recent additions to my collection from the ‘Color Mascara‘ & ‘Vivid Brights‘ ranges, I bought most of the colours in the ranges because I love being creative with the makeup and adding colour. I thought that the mascaras would be fun to create some unique looks with.

So Far I really love the ‘Blue‘ & ‘Purple‘ from the Mascara range and ‘Fire(red)‘, ‘Violet(purple)’ &‘Saphirre(blue)’ form the ‘Vivid Brights‘ range.

Vivid Brights Review

NYX Cosmetics – Liquid Suede & Wicked Lipsticks

I love the ‘Liquid Suede‘ & ‘Wicked‘ lipstick ranges, in addition to having a set of mini’s the shade ‘Stone Fox‘ is my favourite from the ‘Liquid Suede‘ which is why I have it in a full size, it’s such an unusual shade and this is why I was drawn to it, its a deep blue-grey and it looks really kool on.

I love the ‘Wicked’ lipstick range I have four of the stranger colours from the collection, ‘Risque(green)‘, ‘Envy(Blue)‘, ‘Immortal(purple)‘ & ‘Scandalous(teal)’. I admit I don’t wear these as much as I should because they look fabulous on, while most of this range was metallic I feel like it looks more subtle than say the ‘Cosmic Metals’.

Australis Cosmetics – Velourlips

Australis’s ‘Velourlips‘ might not be my favourite liquid lipstick formula but they have a few fun colours in their range including ‘Tok-i-o(purple)‘, ‘Em-ruled City(dark green)‘ (I had to have this just for the name, I’ve loved the Wizard of Oz since I was little),’To-Paz or not To-paz(navy blue)‘ & ‘Mel-burn(black)‘ is also fun to wear.

Models Prefer – Hologloss & Urban Decay – Vice Special Effects Lip Toppers

These are another new addition to my collection, I recently did a review on these comparing the Urban Decay ‘Vice Special Effects‘ lip toppers with the more affordable Models Prefer ‘Hologloss‘ lip toppers, you can find that review here if you’re interested.

These are a fun way to add some sparkle and dimension to your lips, I love wearing these over a lipstick or just on my bare lips, these are great they dry down, unlike a gloss which stays sticky so they are easier and more comfortable to wear.

I had some of the other shades from the UD range on my wishlist because they have some awesome colours but while I do love playing with these I don’t wear this kind of thing often enough to justify the $30 price tag.

Splurge or Purge liptopper Review

Chi Chi Cosmetics have been one of my favourite affordable Aussie brands for so long, when I first really started getting into makeup I couldn’t afford expensive palette like I buy now so I brought Chi Chi palettes. I still have a few in my collection including the ‘Pop Princess‘ palette which is newer addition to their range of palettes, I had been wanting a pastel palette since I saw the Kat Von D ‘Pastel Goth‘ palette but I wasn’t sure how much I would dip into it so I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money on one.

I actually really enjoy this palette and I love that it has a range of mattes and shimmers, I could totally use this palette by its self but I do feel like I need to dip into something else to add some depth to the looks I create with it. I definitely need a white or light base to use this because the eyeshadows need to be built up a bit but I find otherwise they apply really nicely.

Pop Princess Review

The Urban Decay ‘Electric’ Palette was my first high-end bright eyeshadow palette, I love pulling this out to create some fun bright eyeshadow looks. It has a range of press pigments in a beautiful range of colours, I particularly love ‘Urban’ (purple), ‘Jilted’ (magenta), ‘Slow burn’ (neon orange), ‘ Thrash’ (neon yellow) & ‘Fringe (teal).

While some of the shades in this may leave a bit of a stain, that doesn’t bother me because I find it doesn’t really last long at all. If you have this palette you will already know that this is why it has a warning on the packaging because the colourants in a few of the shades can leave a stain on your skin afterwards, like I said this doesn’t bother me that much.

Aurora Glow Kit
ABH – Aurora Glow Kit

This is another fairly recent addition to my collection the Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Aurora’ glow kit. This is the only glow kit that I own from the brand but I love that it has a mix of wearable and colourful highlighters. They are really flattering on the skin and fun to wear, I love these as a highlight or as eyeshadow toppers. I really love ‘Eclipse’, ‘Helia’ and ‘Lyra’ they all look very pretty on the skin.
