I’ve been putting off publishing this post because I’ve been experiencing quite bad anxiety and that was even before all the crazy stuff thats been happened in the last couple of weeks. But I know that with everything currently going on in the world I’m not the only one, whats happening is unpresedented and I don’t think any of us could have forseen this happening.
Its certainly been a crazy start to the year with the bushfires here in Australia and now with the virus. Before getting into this post I just want to say take care and remember to be kind, we are all going through this together and we need to remember to take care of ourselves and those around us.
Now I’ll get into my post…
If you have been following my blog for a while you would probably have noticed my absence, especially if you didn’t catch my posts early last year saying that I need a good break.
For a long very time I’ve suffered from anxiety and depression, and in the last few years I’ve been finding it slowly getting worse but I always plodded along. A couple of years ago I knew that it was time to seek help again, because I was having alot of trouble coping and I was finding small things were triggering my anxiety in ways I hadn’t experienced before.
Well in February / March of last year I had a lot going on, I was in a weird place, I was looking to the future and what I wanted
to do with my blog but I had a massive trigger around this time and lost a lot of self confidence and everything seemed to overwhelm me and I really wasn’t coping at all.
So I knew that my health needed to come first and to be honest I didn’t even know if I ever wanted to pick this up again. I was honestly on the verge of deleting my entire internet presence because that had become one of my major triggers. I knew that this was a silly idea and I just needed to take time to work on my self and try and work past things.
Towards the middle of last year I had been thinking alot about my blog and mainly because I actually really missed it, it was a huge part of my life and it had given me so much joy in the past. I thought oh maybe next year I’ll take it up again, but I wasn’t really to sure at that point.
But in around August I was starting to notice a change in myself and felt like I was starting to get over a hurdle so to speak. I’ve still been having regular visits with my Psychologist and I’ve also had my medication re-elvaluated and I think that has really helped me. But I know I still have a way to go yet and that’s okay.
I think there is alot of stigma attached to taking medications especially for mental health and honestly I don’t understand why that is. If it helps you get through your day better then I see no problem with it.

So I wanted to chat about my blog and what my plans are for it from here on out, I mean things might change again but these are my plans for now.
Types of Content I would like to share.
I’m a very multi-facited person I have alot of interests not just makeup, I also love art and photography, reading, watching movies and listening to music, so I really want to share some of this stuff also.
My main topics of choice will be:
- Beauty: Makeup & Skincare (this could include reviews or makeup looks etc…)
- Art & Photography (this could include tutorials or walkthroughs, drawing or art journaling, maybe painting…)
- Fashion (this could include thrifting/second hand shopping, looks or look books, styling guides, or D.I.Y’s…)
- Lifestyle (this might be favourite books, music, or tv shows & movies , gaming or it could include shout outs, gardening, nature, etc… basically anything that doesn’t fit into any other category.)
- Mental Health and Body Positivity (this could be personal updates or other content around these kinds of topics.)
- Mindful Consumerism (I would like to talk about a range of things like enviromental impact, eco shopping, cruelty-free shopping, etc)
As for my ‘Blogging tips & tricks‘ series, well I’m not sure about this topic actually I’m thinking I would rather create other content like maybe stuff around photography, I don’t know. There is a lot of content out there around this topic and while I did like doing this topic at the time I now feel like I would like to talk about other topics instead.
Thats right I want to include more video content as well as written content, I did delete my Art Youtube channel but I still have my original channel and I’ll just be posting everything to that instead.
I have been posting some makeup related videos on my @ erinappbeauty IGTV channel. I’ve only got a handful of videos over there at the moment including 3 looks 1 palettes and recreating Kiss’s makeup looks, which I will also be posting on my Youtube channel at some point and posting about all that here on my blog. (I may move them to youtube or reedit them so they are a bit shorter because I feel like they might be a bit long for IGTV)
I’m hoping to be able to post different kinds content on my blog, IGTV and Youtube channel’s, but I’ll see how I go.
Timeline | Schedule
I’m not giving myself a set schedule I’ll post when I feel like it, though ultimately I would really like to aim to post at least once a week if possible. I still need to make my health a major priority and I need to make sure that I am maintaining a work life balance, which I previously have been really bad at. I have a tendancy to get obsessive (very focused) and not give myself a break.
For me I need to keep in mind that this is a hobby and for now I would like to keep it that way. When I look at it as work it becomes overwhelming and I started to lose that enjoyment, so to keep it fun and enjoyable I need to look at it as a hobby and nothing more, at this point anyway.
I’m very excited and happy to getting back to sharing content with you all. I’ve been going through my previous posts and curating the ones I want to keep on my site (which should be up by the time this post goes live) and sharing some posts that I had planned on sharing before I took my break. As well as some new ones of course.
I still have a few minor tweaks that I would like to fix but hopefully some of that will be done by the time you see this. (I will also be adding extra stuff over time as well.)
I will have a couple of new series that I plan to do including, my ‘2020 Reading Challenge‘ as well as a creative series called ‘Colour with me’ where I’ll be sharing things like colouring books, art journals, etc. I’ll let know more about these when I post the introduction posts for both of these series.
