March Empties + Declutter | Life Of Dahlia

I really enjoyed last months empties post so I thought I would make it a more regular thing, this month I’m including a small declutter because I’m getting rid of a couple of eyeshadow palettes.

Declutter –

ModelsPrefer Party Glam & Day To Night Palettes

I’ve had these palettes for a while and I hardly touch them, I was considering trying to pan them but after playing with them I found that they irritated my eyes so I have regrettingly decided to declutter them from my collection. I feel like I’ve had these for too long to pass them on so I’m going to have to throw them away. I feel kind of bad because I hate wasting things but I’m just using this as a lesson learned and inspiration to try using up more products than purchasing new things all the time.

Essano Acai Berry Conditioner, Rosehip Gentle Facial Exfoliator and Cleanser

The first Three products I’ve used up are from one of my favourite brands, two of these products I’ve repurchased multiple times and the other I had tried for the first time.

If you read my first post you would have seen that I used up some ‘Essano Acai Berry Shampoo and Conditioner‘, this month I have finished another bottle of the Conditioner and I’m close to finishing another bottle of the shampoo as well. These are both products that I enjoy and I will definitely keep repurchasing in the future.

I finished two Essano Skincare products this month the ‘Rosehip Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser‘ and the ‘Rosehip Gentle Facial Exfoliator‘, I’ve been using this cleanser for a few years and I still feel like it works great for my skin so I will keep repurchasing it. This is the first time however that I’ve used the ‘Rosehip Gentle Facial Exfoliator‘ I quite enjoyed this as well and I would consider repurchasing this in the future after I’ve used up some other exfoliating products.

Brasil Cacau Professional – Hydrating Hair Complex

I was given this product by my sister to use after she bleached my hair (she is my hairdresser by the way) I quite enjoyed this product, I did help my hair remain healthy and prevent breakage, I’m not sure if this is a product that I would actually repurchase as I’m unsure of the companies cruelty free status. I also have a bunch of other products that I’ve found that I like just as much so I don’t see any need to repurchase this product.

Kirkland Makeup Wipes & Johnson’s Pure Cotton Rounds

I can’t remember if I said this or not in my ‘What I’m not going to by post’ at the start of the year, but I’m sure I wasn’t going to buy makeup wipes, I did purchase some because I thought I would need some for my makeup course but at this point I’m unsure If I’m going to complete it this year I’ve been going through a lot and I just don’t have the energy to complete it at this point in time. Anyway, I decided to just try and use up some of this stuff that I had brought so It didn’t go to waste including these ‘Kirkland Makeup Wipes’.

As far as makeup wipes go I did quite like them but I’m hoping not to repurchase any makeup wipes in the future.

I also finished up these ‘Johnson’s Pure’ cotton rounds, I bought a bulk pack from Cost Co at the same time as purchasing the ‘Kirkland Makeup Wipes‘, as much as I’m trying to create less waste this year I still feel like these are a necessity, I use these to take makeup off with a Micellar water or with my toner for skincare as well as to remove nail polish so for now I will keep repurchasing these because of how multipurpose they are.

Kmart Body Butter

I was given this Kmart Body Butter which I’m pretty sure isn’t cruelty-free (not sure on the status of their skincare products) but that’s not why I’m getting rid of this, I did try a bit out but I’m very picky when it comes to what I put on my skin. This may seem silly considering I love makeup and we all know that often doesn’t have the greatest ingredients but this is why I’m picky when it comes to skincare I prefer to use products that don’t contain things like parabens and sulphates among other things and instead use products have more natural ingredients.

I figure that makeup has enough nasty stuff so I like to use more natural skincare, I know I’m not putting this on my face but I would still prefer to use my ‘Palmers‘ or ‘Essano‘ body lotions over something like this, they often aren’t much more expensive and have much friendlier ingredients.

Brite Hair Masks

This isn’t empty but more of a depot, I’m not the biggest fan of this kind of packaging it is often hard to get the product out so I like to squeeze these out into a container. I like to keep the containers from the body shop or lush to reuse when I get products like this that don’t come in the greatest packaging.

I quite like these hair masks from Brite Organix are quite nice I just hope that I can recycle this packaging, I feel like often even brands that consider themselves cruelty-free or ethical can sometimes skip over this. I want brands to think about this more even if there packaging is they often don’t include this one their labels.

If you know of any cruelty-free hair care ranges available in Australia that have recyclable packaging (it can’t be lush though unfortunately, their products have sulfate in them which isn’t great with coloured hair) let me know in the comments.

Nutrimetics Nutri-rich Shower Oil, Sukin Oil Balancing Moisturiser and Sun Bum Coconut Lip Balm.

I’m so happy to finish this bottle of ‘Nutrimetics Nutri-rich Shower Oil’ I quite enjoyed this it felt very luxurious, I would definitely repurchase this in the future but I’m looking forward to using up some different products first.

I’m a big fan of ‘Sukin‘ moisturiser’s I’ve tried quite a few and I feel like most of them have worked for my skin, I feel like the ‘Oil Balancing‘ one is great in summer to help reduce the oil in my t-zone. I have another one of these to finish up as well as another from the range but I may consider repurchasing in the future.

And lucky last is the ‘Sun Bum Coconut lip balm‘, I’m actually just getting rid of this because I feel like this is really fragrant, when I use this I feel like I’ve sprayed perfume on my lips or something Its a pity because I love coconut lip balms but I much prefer the Burts Bee’s one over this.

I would love to know what products you have used up this month? If you have a blog post link it in the comments or just let me know what products you used up that you really enjoyed.
