Some days I just love a colourful highlight and other days I like something a little more natural. Having such a fair skin tone it can be hard to find highlights for my skin tone but I have found a few over the last couple of years that I absolutely love.
I have no problem dropping a dime on a product that looks intriguing to me but it’s great when I can find affordable brands that have some great products. Some of my favourite highlighters that I’ve discovered in the last few months have come under this banner.
Chi Chi Cosmetics – Iridescent Glow Highlighting Palette
If you’re looking for a dupe for palettes like the Kat Von D Beauty – ‘Alchemist‘ palette (which I will talk about in a moment) then this may be what you are looking for, Chi Chi Cosmetics which is an affordable Australian brand have recently released two duo-chrome coloured highlighting palettes which includes the ‘Iridescent Glow’ and ‘Opalescent glow‘ palettes. The ‘Iridescent Glow’ is a powder formula and the ‘Opalescent glow‘ is a cream formula.
I’m including the ‘Iridescent Glow’ palette in my favourites because I love the colour range and so far I’m really impressed by the formula. I haven’t had a chance to try out the cream palette yet but I will keep you updated on both in a full review in the coming months. Like I mentioned this has similar colours to the KVD ‘Alchemist‘ palette but with a few extra colours thrown in.
It includes some beautiful purples, greens, yellows, pinks and a silver, what ever colour takes your fancy this palette probably has it.
You can currently purchase this palette through Myer and I’m sure in the coming months it will be available in Target and their website.
Designer Brands Cosmetics – Up In Lights Highlight Kit
This palette surprised me, I hadn’t tried much from Designer Brands before purchasing this during the 2017 holiday period so I didn’t know what to expect from their products, I had heard pretty good things so I decided to grab this to try out. I’m glad I did take the plunge because its pretty darn good, having now tried one the ABH glow kits I would definitely say its similar and looks just as beautiful on the skin.
I love digging into this on those days when I want something a little more natural and I feel like it looks so beautiful and gives me a nice healthy glow. This palette was Limited Edition so I’m not sure if it’s still available, I know it sold out pretty quick on the website but you may still find some via some of their stockists, which you can find via there website.
The Balm ‘Mary-Lou Manizer’ luminizer
I also wanted to share some of my favourite single highlights, I’ve owned the ‘Mary-Lou Manizer’ luminizer for a couple of years it was my first high-end highlight, actually, it may have been my first ever highlight product. I still love this product it gives me a nice golden champaign highlight which would look beautiful on many skin tones.
If you’re just getting into highlighting or just want something more subtle then I would definitely recommend checking this one out.
Kat Von D Beauty Metal Crush eyeshadow in ‘Thunderstruck’
The Kat Von D Beauty Metal Crush single eyeshadow in ‘Thunderstruck’ is a fantastic highlight for fairer skin tones and because its an eyeshadow its very multi-purpose, this was probably the second highlighter I have ever owned, at the time I was struggling to find highlighting products that suited my skin tone a lot of them were too dark. Again this is one of my favourite Highlights that I still constantly reach for, If I could only have one highlighting products for the rest of my life it would be this one for sure.
Note: I’m not sure if this is still available but I think they are coming out with a highlighter in this shade.
Too Faced Cosmetics – Sweet Peach Glow Palette
I have to admit that I don’t reach for this palette as much as I would like but I still love grabbing this out occasionally because it gives me a highlight, blush and bronzer. The highlight in this palette offers a subtle rose gold highlight which pairs beautifully with the blush and bronzer in the palette. This is great for lighter skin tones which is great for me but I feel like anyone with a medium to deep skin tone would only be able to use the highlight in this palette.
What are your favourite highlighting products? Is there a favourite palette or single highlight in your collection? let me know in the comments.
