I’m sure its obvious by now that I love colourful makeup, so when I saw that Nyx Cosmetics or Nyx Professional Makeup whatever you want to call it, was coming out with coloured eyeliners I was totally there, because its hard to find affordable coloured liquid liners.
I started by picking up ‘Sapphire‘ and I loved the way it looked so much that I had to get the rest.
Out of all the colours, the only ones I’m disappointed with the most is ‘Envy‘ and ‘Halo‘,they are nowhere near the colour of the packaging, I was expecting bright green and yellow colours and but instead, they are more pastel in comparison to the colours on the packaging.
All the other colours are good, ‘Fire‘ comes off a bit more pink than red when on the eye but its still a beautiful colour and it is one of my favourites from the range.
‘Violet‘ is a stunning deep purple shade, which works great with similar coloured cool tones shadows or in contrast with a more basic look.
‘Sapphire‘ I feel works very similarly, I also love using these as the statement piece of a whole look using a very basic eye look and making this the feature or using a contrasting colour.
‘Halo‘ is a nice sunny yellow though is more pastel when applied than when swatched, it would still look great on its own or as a thin line along a black wing. ‘Blossom‘ is a lavender colour and would look great with an overall pastel look, though it may get lost in the colours are too similar.
These are fun to add a pop of colour to your look without going all out, especially if you’re not used to wearing bright colours. Create a basic eye look, maybe with a matte base and transition shade and then pop this on your lash line for a dramatic but simple look.
So far I’ve found that these can last all day, the only time it didn’t was when I had allergies and my eyes were quite watery.
These aren’t bad for the price and I do like playing with them but Nyx formula has its issues, I had this issue before especially with their white liquid liner. I think it is because it’s a matte formula, as you build them up they start to crack when they dry.
I do think the formula could do with some massive improvements but if your looking for some coloured liners that are affordable and easily accessable these are okay.
This post took me ages to put together because I wanted to use every single one to give a decent review. While I’m not extremely happy with some of these looks, I accept that I’m still learning and life is not perfect. I just didn’t want to spend any more time on this post because it had already taken me so long to put together.
I’ve since discovered that we didn’t get all the shades in Australia, apparently, there is an orange, pink and another green shade. I would love to try the orange that sounds right up my alley.
Have you tried these out? what are your thoughts on them?
Until next time, I hope you have a lovely day.
