Warm Glam Holiday look – | Life Of Dahlia

Warm palettes have been really in this year, my favourite being the Anastasia Beverly Hills ‘Modern Renaissance’, which I used to create this look. But I also wanted to include a couple of affordable suggestions for those who want a more affordable alternative.

For this look I used –

Tempera (to set my eyeshadow primer), Buon Fresco (transition), Love Letter (outer corner, crease), Venetian Red (deepen outer corner) and Vermeer (over a glitter cream eyeshadow, and inner corner.) Lower lash line – Love Letter and Venetian red (from outer to inner corner), blended out with Buon Fresco.

I will happily admit that I realised when creating this look why I have a love-hate thing with cream eyeshadows because I always forget they don’t work on me and crease like hell. I’m still learning so I want to love them because I love the glittery looks they can create but they just don’t work for people like me with deep-set eyes. So if you have hooded or deep-set eyes I would totally skip that and just use a glittery/shimmery powder eyeshadow.

By wetting your brush you can foil the shade and not only will it help you work with the product better but it will give it an extra pop.

I know what its like to not be able to afford to spend excessive amounts on makeup, so I wanted to give some alternative suggestions on what more affordable palettes you could use to create a similar look.

As you can see from the image above I have included the Paparazzi holiday palette by DB Cosmetics which retails for $14.95 and the Berries palette by BYS Cosmetics which can retail anywhere from $12 – 20 depending on where you get it from.

(You can purchase the DB Cosmetics palette from their Website or Stockists, which you should be able to find on their website. The Bys Cosmetics palette can also be found via the BYS website or in Target stores and other stockists.)

Both these palettes have similar shades to the ‘Modern Renaissance’ including a few berries, oranges and some beautiful shimmery shades. The Bys palette is pretty similar in that the shades are the most similar to MR but the DB palette includes these shades plus a few extras.

The pigmentation is nowhere near that of MR but they are both buildable and could create some very similar and equally as beautiful looks.

You can find my reviews on these palettes below-
